CHICOSUDO is working with its network partners across Malawi to protect boys and girls from all forms of violence. CHICOSUDO child protection programme reinforces established child protection systems to ensure that Child are protected from violence, abuse, exploitation and neglect of children. The programme increases access to child protection services, from districts to rural communities. CHICOSUDO is working with both government and its networking partners ranging from non-governmental organizations, faith based organizations, individuals and Malawi Government ministries.

Complement the legal and policy framework

CHICOSUDO’S Child protection activities compliments Malawi government’s efforts in implementing National Plan of Action for Vulnerable Children. The action plan enhances the national effort to care, protect and support vulnerable children. CHICOSUDO work with child protection workforce and other related fields, including social welfare officers, community child protection officers and police officers, thereby improving response to child protection efforts.

Case management

CHICOSUDO with its partners on the ground in many corners of the country to ensure that abused children have received proper legal support that bring justice. Also provide psychosocial counselling, family reunion to children who are trafficked.

Ending Child Marriage and abuse

In Malawi, about 46 percent of girls in Malawi are married before 18, and 9 per cent before 15. CHICOSUDO uses advocacy campaigns through men as protectors, community dialogues, paralegal services to renfornce community bylaws which were formed by traditional leaders, government and stakeholders. CHICOSUDO work with traditional leaders in Blantyre and Mulanje. CHICOSUDO addresses harmful cultural practices and norms that leads to child marriages and other forms of child abuse like child labor.
